The brainchild of Bec Williams, Playground Sports was more than a decade in the making and officially began in 2008. Born and raised in Eugene, Bec was a high school athlete who discovered the world of recreational sports while attending Western Oregon University and working for campus rec in 1994. Since 2001 she has managed the Willamette valley's most successful recreational basketball programs. In 2007 she expanded her leagues to include volleyball. Realizing the absence of opportunities for adults to get their sweat on in recreational leagues, she created Playground Sports to offer traditional leagues like basketball and volleyball, while catering to the retro-rec child within many of us by offering dodgeball, bowling, and kickball. Who knows what the future will hold for Playground Sports? Four square? Curling? Darts? Competitive knitting? Synchronized swimming? Only time will tell. In the meantime never stop playing and have a ball.
